Biography
Hon. Rashid Abdallah Shangazi was born on September 5, 1976. He is a Tanzanian politician affiliated with the ruling party, Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM). He has been serving as the Member of Parliament for the Mlalo constituency in Lushoto District, Tanga Region, since 2015.
He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration from Kampala International University (2013-2016), a Diploma in Business & Information Technology from Learn IT Institute (2008-2009), and completed his secondary education at Euckenforde High School (1996-1998) and Tabora Secondary School (1992-1995). His primary education was at Fufui Primary School (1985-1991).
Before entering politics, Hon. Shangazi built his career in administration. He served as an Administrative Officer at Petrofuel (T) LTD from 2009 to 2015, held the same position at The Original SAADANI LTD from 2005 to 2009, and worked as an Assistant Administrative Officer at SOL Trading LTD from 1999 to 2004.
His political journey includes serving two terms as a Member of Parliament (2015-2020, 2020-2025). He currently serves as the Secretary of CCM Members of Parliament Caucus (2020-2025), after previously holding the position of Assistant Secretary (2015-2020). He has been a member of the Public Accounts Committee (2017-2020, 2021-2023) and the Constitution and Legal Affairs Committee (2015-2017).
Within the party structure, he has served as a Member of District Political Committee (2015-2020), Member of Regional Executive Council (2013-2020), and Member to the National Congress (2015-2020).
Beyond his political endeavors, Shangazi has contributed to sports administration. In July 2021, he was appointed to the Board of Directors of Simba Sports Club, one of Tanzania's premier football clubs. He also serves as the Chairman of the Simba Parliamentary Branch, known as 'Wekundu wa Mjengoni.'
